Jamie Foxx takes on a DJ Mustard beat with “Pretty Young Thing”.
Jamie Foxx was one of the more successful actors turned singers, before it became a rite of passage in the Disney star age. His ability to hold it down in both courts has proved inspiring to fellow double threat, Drake, who revealed his dream to host the Espys came through Jamie.
It’s been a good five years since Foxx’s last studio album, “Best Night Of My Life,” and a good 7 since his last certified smash, “Blame It,” but his new record is sounding like it could break that drought. “Pretty Young Thing” is not a rewrite of the Michael Jackson classic, but it does sample the vocals on the hook. Either way, it captures the energy of the original, and puts a modern twist on it with the proven synth stabs of DJ Mustard.
